The Naxi, or Nakhi, ethnic minority people are one of China’s recognized 56 minority ethnic cultures. The total population, worldwide, of the Naxi people is estimated at around 308,000 people; Yunnnan Province, where the Naxi primarily live, has a population of over 46 million. The Naxi have their own language, writing, clothing and religion. Dongba, the primary Naxi religion (along with Tibetan Buiddhism and Taosim) is influenced by Confucianism, Tibetan culture and also Han Chinese.
